Photo slide show of 2015 football championships

The 11-man 2015 football season offered a mixed bag of championship treats for Arizona's high school sports fans.

We had perennial powers (Centennial and Saguaro) repeat as champions, and a trio of newbies (Joy Christian, Pusch Ridge, Desert Edge) were wecolmed into Arizona's football 11-man championship fraternity. Not to be ovelooked were acts of brotherhood at a couple of games.

Despite the painful look on their smeared eye black faces, Northwest Christian players kneeled next to their football brethren, Pusch Ridge Christian players, after their championship game to hear Northwest Christian coach Dave Inness give a moving postgame speech and then pray.

In the Division I final, Centennial's victory formation snaps were taken with the shortest player on the field, Drew Schmit (5-3, 155), who stood tall after it was all said and done. Schmit is listed as a defensive tackle, but giving interviews is what he proved quite adept at after the final D-I game of the season.

Since he was an infant, the senior has had cerebral palsey, but that was a footnote Saturday as he walked in a distinctive manner. How Schmit eloquently expressed himself about his team and the snaps he participated in is what really caught the eye of the media.

For proof, Schmit helped narrarrate the video above.
