Arizona Soccer Showcase returns to Scottsdale

After a successful inaugural tournament a year ago, Year Two of the Arizona Soccer Showcase is set Dec. 27-31 at the Scottsdale Sports Complex.

The site is at Hayden and Bell roads in north Scottsdale, adjacent to the Tournament Players Club, home of the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament.

The tournament, presented by the Phoenix Regional Sports Commission, will feature 56 high school teams (32 boys, 24 girls) from Arizona and California. College recruiters from around the nation will be evaluating the players.

Phoenix Brophy Prep defeated Gilbert in the inaugural boys title match, and Iolani, Hawaii, edged Cave Creek Cactus Shadows for the girls crown.

Matches begin at 9 a.m. and run all day through 7 p.m. Boys and girls championship matches are Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.

Boys teams – Phoenix Brophy Prep, Cave Creek Cactus Shadows, Capistrano Valley (Calif.), Phoenix Carl Hayden, Scottsdale Chaparral, Tempe Corona del Sol, Scottsdale Desert Mountain, Flagstaff, Francis Parker (Calif.), Gilbert, Chandler Hamilton, Gilbert Highland, Glendale Ironwood, Yuma Kofa, Avondale La Joya, Liberty (Calif.), Mater Dei (Calif.), Goodyear Millennium, Phoenix Mountain Pointe, Marana Mountain View, Mesa Mountain View, Phoenix Northwest Christian, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep, Parker, Phoenix Pinnacle, San Clemente (Calif.), Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, Servite (Calif.).

Girls teams – Bonita Vista (Calif.), Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain, Cave Creek Cactus Shadows, Scottsdale Chaparral, Tempe Corona del Sol, Scottsdale Desert Mountain, Phoenix Desert Vista, Flagstaff, Francis Parker (Calif.), Gilbert, Chandler Hamilton, Gilbert Highland, Liberty (Calif.), Goodyear Millennium, Cottonwood Mingus, Phoenix Mountain Pointe, Marana Mountain View, Murrietta Valley (Calif.), Phoenix Northwest Christian, Page, Phoenix Pinnacle, Tucson Rincon, Rosary (Calif.), Tucson Sabino, Tucson Sahuaro, Phoenix St. Mary’s, Scripps Ranch (Calif.), Steele Canyon (Calif.).
