Xavier Prep has garnered the top seed for the state team badminton tournament that opens Monday Oct. 28 with first round and quarterfinal action.

The top four seeds, all of whom host first-round and quarterfinal matches, are Xavier (1), Mountain Ridge (2), Mountain Pointe (3) and Chandler (4). All first-round matches are at 5 p.m.  followed at 6:30 p.m. by quarterfinals. Semifinals and finals will be played on Wednesday Oct. 30 and Thursday Oct. 31 at Sunnyslope High. Semis are Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m.and the final at 6 p.m. on Oct. 31. 

Here are matchups for Monday Oct. 28 opening round and the enusing quarterfinal matches:

At Xavier Prep: 5 p.m. -- No. 16 Goldwater vs. No. 1 Xavier; No. 9 Millennium vs. No. 8 Prescott. 6:30 p.m. -- Winners meet.

At Chandler High: 5 p.m -- No. 12 Horizon vs. No. 5 Sandra Day O'Connor;No. 13 Ironwood vs. No. 4 Chandler. 6:30 p.m. -- Winners meet.

At Mountain Pointe: 5 p.m. -- No. 14 Red Mountain vs. No. 3 Mountain Pointe; No. 11 Sunnyslope vs. No. 6 Hamiton. 6:30 p.m. -- Winners meet.

At Mountain Ridge: 5 p.m. -- No. 10 Desert Vista vs. No. 7 Perry; No. 15 Independence vs. No. 2 Mountain Pointe. 6:30 p.m. -- Winners meet.
