Ironwood Ridge beat Mountain View 10-5 in five innings on Tuesday to improve to 5-9 in power-ranking games with four games left in the season. Ranked No. 27 coming in, the Nighthawks would need a lot to happen to make the playoffs and No. 40 Mountain View (1-10) is in a very difficult spot with seven games remaining.

The Mountain Lions celebrated Senior Night in the game with Ironwood Ridge with the remaining seven games on their schedule all taking place on the road, including a double-header at No. 4 Catalina Foothills (7-3) on Thursday night. The Nighthawks will travel to No. 20 Cholla (4-4) on the same night.

The top eight teams in the 5A Conference will earn an automatic berth to the state playoffs starting on Saturday, April 27 but the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday, April 24 will take in teams ranked No. 9 to 24. There should be enough power points to reach the top 24 for the Nighthawks if the team remains focused.

Ironwood Ridge led 4-0 after the fourth inning but the game was still manageable for Mountain View until the Nighthawks exploded for six more runs in the top of the fifth for the 10-0 run-rule victory. Noah Peters threw five innings and he threw a no-hitter while striking out nine batters.

Jordan Garcia went 2-4 with a double and two RBI; Seve Sissac went 2-3 with an RBI and Angel Figueroa scored three times. For Mountain View, Brady Maher got the start and Julian Palmieri and Jayden Lynch also saw action. Colton Kintner, Braylen Robinson and Damian Orosco drew walks to help break up the possible perfect game for Peters.
