The Phoenix Christian Cougars will host the Camp Verde Cowboys (4-2) in a 2A conference Agua Fria region battle this Friday. Both teams have won their first two regional games.

After a season opener loss to Tanque Verde, the Cougars have rallied to win their next four games.

“The mentality we need to have is to do your job and trust the guys next to you. When game time comes, be the most prepared you can be,” said senior linebacker Syras Renteria.

The running back duo of Brandon Scroggins and Javien Willis leads Phoenix Christian's explosive offense. The two RBs have rushed for a combined 969 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

Willis said when he gets the ball, “the mentality is to hit the hole hard and follow my blocks.”

The duo must come ready to give it there A-game against Camp Verde, which averages 47 points per game.

“We got to go in there expecting to win. A big focus is staying on your side, doing what you have to, and doing your job,” said senior linebacker Aeden Flynn.
