The 6A East Valley Region baseball title was the prize to the winner of Monday's regular-season finale between #11 Mountain View and #16 Red Mountain.

Mountain View's three-run, first inning gave the Toros a foothold. They carried the outburst to a 4-2 triumph over the Mountain Lions at Mountain View.

With the victory Mountain View finished the regular season 16-13 overall and 9-1 in region. The Toros rallied for the region title, needing a sweep of Red Mountain in the two-game series. They won the first game, 10-3, last Friday. Red Mountain heads to postseason 16-10 overall, 8-2 region. Red Mountain won the previous two region titles (2021 and 2022).

Three pitchers took to the hill for Mountain View. Starter Isaiah Csader picked up the win. Csader worked three innings, allowed six hits and both runs (one unearned). Baley Viscardi (three innings) and Easton Turner (one inning) finished up.

Mountain View used three hits and a Red Mountain error to plate its three runs in the first. Nick Masciangelo (infield single), Joe Terranova (double) and Tyler Davis (on via error) scored the runs. Turner, Terranova and Tyler Davis were credited with RBI in the inning.

Red Mountain scored both runs in the third to pull within 3-2. The Mountain Lions used three hits and an error for their rally with the only RBI a Brayden Bond single.

Mountain View's fourth run crossed in the third thanks to singles by Drew Snow, Noah Troth and Jordan Person and an outfield error.

Final power rankings will be computed Tuesday for all conferences. Play-in games take place Wednesday followed by the first round of the state tournament on Saturday.
