Legend Nichols attends Canyon View High School and is a member of the AIA's Student SID program. 

The Canyon View freshman basketball team beat La Joya in Canyon View Arena on Monday, January 31 by score of 46-17.

Maddyn Castillo made Canyon View's first basket and Anabell Candelaria made the first shot of the second quarter in a low scoring affair.

Gretchen Evans then got hot and hit two three-pointers to put the Jaguars up 16-4 heading into the third quarter.

"We needed a spark to keep us going after the first half, we have some things we can definitely improve on but overall it was a good game," coach Charles Flemings said.

Evans opened up the third quarter by making a three-pointer and helped lead the way throughout the contest as the Jaguars closed the quarter with a 37-15 advantage.

"Tonight was a really good game, it was amazing on behalf of the team and for my performance as well," Evans said.

The Lady Jaguars freshman team will be back in Canyon View Arena on Friday, February 4 against the Cesar Chavez Champions.
