Alchesay opened its gridiron season with a 22-6 victory over Globe Tigers, where Falcons junior Davin Parker was the game's standout.

In a battle between two 3A East Region powers, Blue Ridge Yellowjackets knocked off the Winslow Bulldogs, 41-21, in a game played at Lakeside.

Alchesay head coach Brandon Newcomb said he is happy with the win.

"Globe played us tough and physical," Newcomb said. "We have a lot of work to do to get better. I think we have good potential to be successful. We need more game experience. Twelve penalties for over 110-yards is unacceptable. I like my team. We are young at some spots, but will get better."

Alchesay chalked up 230 total offensive yardage, all rushing. The Falcons did not have any yardage through the air.

Parker rushed for 123-yards on 28 carries. Parker entered the end zone twice for touchdowns. Ryan Quintero added 79-yards on 17 rushes, scoring one touchdown. Linebacker Eli Thompson scored a two-point safety.

Alchesay, 1-0, travels to Lakeside for an encounter with Blue Ridge Yellowjackets, 1-0, this Thursday at 7 p.m.
