Assistant Gerald Todd gets the nod at Basha as new fb coach

Basha High did not stray far in finding the third coach in its football history, officially naming Gerald Todd on Wednesday to take over the program.

Todd, who has coached and taught at Basha since 2006, replaces Bernie Busken. Busken resigned late last month. Todd coached on the previous varsity staffs of Tim McBurney and Busken.

Todd previously served twice in Carlsbad, N.M, sat Carlsbad High (1997-99 and 2001-2006). At Carlsbad High he was running backs coach and offensive coordinator. Todd also had coaching stints in Texas at Alief Elsik High in Houston and at Odessa High (1992-1995). His experience again was with running backs specifically and offense in general. Todd has collegiate experience at Abilene Christain (1989-1992) and 1995-97). todd is a graduate of Abilene Christian where he was a standout running backand team MVP in 1988.
