Dylan Rosoff singled in the tie-breaking run in the fifth inning and Jake Burns knocked in an insurance run in the sixth on Monday night as Campo Verde rallied to edge Mesa High, 5-3, on the second day of the 4th annual Game on Germann Invitational at Campo Verde High School.

Rosoff drove in two runs with a pair of hits, Burns had two hits as did teammates Sloane Thompson and Erik Hildebrandt. Campo Verde improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in pool play at its tournament. Campo Verde leads its pool with Mesa High now 2-1 in pool play.

Campo Verde got a lift from left-handed pitcher Cooper Williams. Williams tossed 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief of starter Marcus Colegrove. Williams allowed three hits, no walks and fanned three in his stint. Colegrove gave up six his and three runs in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Williams pitched out of a seventh inning jam after giving up two singles with one out. He induced a pop up and soft liner to end Mesa's final threat. Mesa left eight runners on base -- two each in the second, third, fourth and seventh. Willie Avelar led Mesa with three hits and Javier Otero and James Ciapa added two hits apiece.

Marcos de Niza, which won two games on the first day of the tournament on Saturday, leads its pool with a 2-0 mark. Marcos de Niza takes on Valley Vista in its only game on Tuesday. Valley Vista and Casa Grande are each 1-0 and are set to play twice on Tuesday (March 11).
