A few more wrestling tournaments remain on schedule

Now that the holiday winter sports tournaments are over, things will calm down, tournament-wise, until the state tournaments go full steam in February.

Basketball and soccer focus on regular-season competition this week, but there are two key wrestling events, one at Peoria Centennial and one at Winslow High.

The Brad Jones “Pack’’ Invitational will be held at Centennial on Friday (Jan. 11) and Saturday (Jan. 12).

Winslow will host one of the biggest non-state tournaments of the year, the Doc Wright Invitational, on Friday and Saturday.

Doc Wright teams are:

Aztec (N.M.), Bayfield (Colo.), Benson, Lakeside Blue Ridge, Phoenix Bourgade Catholic, Chinle, Chino Valley, Clark (Nev.), Flagstaff Coconino, Mesa Dobson, Dove Creek (Colo.), Flagstaff, Ganado, Gilbert, Tuba City Greyhills, Holbrook, Keams Canyon Hopi, Joseph City, Kingman, Kirtland Central (N.M.), Liberty (Nev.), Many Farms, Maricopa, Mesa, Heber Mogollon, Bullhead City Mohave, Monticello (Utah), Kayenta Monument Valley, Page, Pinon, San Juan (Utah), San Manuel, Show Low, Snowflake, St. Johns, Tuba City, Sanders Valley, Fort Defiance Window Rock, Winslow.
