Millennium Beats Betty Fairfax In Season OpenerAug 25, 2012
The Millennium Tigers continued their dominance over Betty Fairfax, beating the Stampede 30-14 in both teams season opener Friday night in Goodyear. The Tigers have now won each of the four meetings with the Stampede, all of which were season openers for both schools.
Millennium, ranked 20th in Division II entering the season, is seeking its fifth straight winning season and fifth playoff berth in six years. The Tigers just missed the postseason in 2011 following a 6-and-4 campaign. They face a tough task next week as they travel to Centennial to face the Coyotes, who are ranked third in Division II.
Fairfax has now opened each of its first four years of varsity football with losses to Millennium. The Stampede, ranked 21st in Division II, finished 7-and-3 a year ago and are seeking their second playoff berth. Millennium will host La Joya Community next week.
