VALLEY CHRISTIAN GOLF DUO SIGN NLIS

November 21, 2014 by Student Insiders, AZPreps365

Valley Christian High School senior student-athletes Gavin deFisser ’15 and Trevor Lampson ’15 signed their National Letters of Intent to compete collegiately in golf next year at two NCAA programs.

In a ceremony at lunchtime in front of family, friends, teachers and coaches, deFisser signed to attend and play golf at the College of William & Mary in Virginia and Lampson signed with California Baptist University.

During his recruiting process, deFisser said that he, “wanted to leverage the opportunity Valley has provided to excel academically and go to a top ranked academic school. Being from Valley and having close relationships with the teachers and athletic program definitely helped me tell a good story in my recruiting process.  I fell in love with the campus, the school and the history of Williamsburg. Plus, it is a great Division I athletic program with an outstanding tradition of golf. Coach Jay Albaugh was really impressive and is doing great things with the golf program. I’m excited to continue my education at William & Mary and be a part of their golf program.”

Lampson commented on how he loved his experience at Valley Christian High School. “I am very grateful for the teachers that have really helped me academically as well as spiritually during my high school years.  The impact that VCHS has made on me was the big factor for me to only look at Christian colleges.  I chose to attend California Baptist because I loved the campus and really liked the coaches and the players in the golf program.  I felt like this is where God wants me to be.”

The duo has led Valley Christian to the pinnacle of the Arizona high school golfing world as the Trojans have emerged as one of the state’s top golf programs. Coming off back-to-back state championships behind their strong play, they’ll look to cap their high school careers with a third consecutive state title this spring.
